Brentford star Yegor Yarmolyuk’s rise inspires agent’s transfer advice

Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk has been highlighted as the perfect example of patient player development by his agent, who says the Ukrainian's pathway in west London has reshaped how he advises some of Europe's brightest young talents.

Speaking to Flashscore.de, agent Vadim Shablii explained how Yarmolyuk's gradual rise through Brentford's B team has become a blueprint when assessing future transfers for emerging players, including Hajduk Split prospect Adam Gurum, who has recently been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

Yarmolyuk joined Brentford from Dnipro-1 in a deal worth around €1.5 million in 2022, initially linking up with the club's B team before earning promotion to the senior squad.

The 22-year-old has since established himself as a first-team player and has attracted interest from several leading European clubs, including reported links with Manchester United.

According to Shablii, the midfielder's progression demonstrates that every young player requires an individual development plan rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

"There is no one-size-fits-all solution," Shablii said.

"Yegor Yarmolyuk is an excellent example of this. Before breaking into Brentford's first team, he honed his game for a season with the club's B team, where he had to hold his own physically against senior players."

"For some players, a top club's academy offers the ideal environment. For others, regular first-team football is irreplaceable."

Shablii also reflected on the challenges Yarmolyuk faced after arriving in England at a young age.

The midfielder had to adapt not only to English football but also to a new culture, language and the physical demands of the Premier League.

"Yegor arrived in England at a very young age from a completely different footballing and cultural background," the agent explained.

"He needed time to adjust to the new language, the country and the physical intensity of the Premier League."

Shablii added that maintaining close contact away from football was equally important, allowing the midfielder to focus fully on his development on the pitch.

Yarmolyuk's steady rise is now influencing how Shablii manages the careers of other highly-rated youngsters.

Rather than prioritising immediate moves to Europe's biggest clubs, the agent believes selecting the right environment is more important than chasing the biggest name.

"The key takeaway is that patience pays off," he said.

"You cannot force things; you have to choose the right club and work hard on yourself day in, day out."

With Arsenal and Chelsea monitoring another of Shablii's clients, those lessons are expected to play a significant role in determining the youngster's next step.

Yarmolyuk is expected to continue his development as an important member of Brentford's first-team squad, while his agent applies the lessons learned from that transfer to guide the next generation of young talent considering moves to the Premier League.
