Real Madrid have emerged as serious contenders to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after the highly rated teenager reportedly changed his preferred destination, dealing a significant setback to Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ivory Coast international has become one of Europe's most sought-after young attackers following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign and an impressive World Cup, with several elite clubs now competing for his signature.

Real Madrid receive encouragement

According to the report, Real Madrid have already submitted an opening €100 million (£85.4 million) bid for Diomande.

RB Leipzig rejected that offer, but the Spanish giants are expected to return with an improved proposal after receiving positive signals from the player during discussions over personal terms.

Diomande had previously been reported to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he was attracted by the club's long-term project and the opportunity to work under Luis Enrique.

However, he is now said to be open to joining Real Madrid, marking a significant change in his transfer stance.

PSG risk missing out

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to have agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old, but they have yet to submit an official offer matching Leipzig's reported €120 million valuation.

That delay has allowed rival clubs to remain firmly in contention.

While PSG continue to monitor the situation, Real Madrid's latest approach has placed the Spanish club in a stronger position to complete the signing.

Liverpool and Arsenal remain interested

Liverpool were heavily linked with Diomande before the World Cup as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.

Reports claim the Premier League champions previously saw a €100 million (£85.5 million) offer rejected by Leipzig.

Arsenal and Manchester City have also joined the race in recent weeks, although neither club has yet matched Real Madrid's latest level of interest.

Should Los Blancos return with an improved bid, Liverpool and Arsenal may need to decide whether to increase their own offers or pursue alternative attacking targets.

Outstanding rise at RB Leipzig

Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Germany, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

His displays at the World Cup further enhanced his reputation, establishing him as one of the most exciting young forwards in European football.

Capable of playing on either wing, he offers versatility that would appeal to several of Europe's biggest clubs.

At Real Madrid, he could provide competition for places while also featuring alongside Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior in José Mourinho's evolving attack.

What's next?

Real Madrid are expected to return with an improved offer after their initial €100 million bid was rejected. PSG must decide whether to formalise their long-standing interest, while Liverpool and Arsenal continue monitoring developments as RB Leipzig hold firm on their €120 million valuation.
