Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly unwilling to let Lucas Bergvall leave in January despite growing interest from Juventus in a potential loan deal.

The 20-year-old Sweden international has struggled for regular playing time under Roberto De Zerbi, prompting intermediaries to offer him to the Italian club.

However, Spurs have no immediate intention of allowing the midfielder to depart, particularly after handing him a new contract until 2031.

Juventus interested in Bergvall loan move

According to Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Juventus are monitoring Bergvall as manager Luciano Spalletti looks to strengthen his midfield options.

The Italian coach reportedly wants a midfielder capable of retaining possession and progressing the ball without slowing down attacking moves.

Bergvall is viewed as a potential fit, with Juventus considering a January loan that could provide the youngster with more regular football.

Intermediaries reportedly offered the Tottenham midfielder to Juventus earlier this month, although there is no indication that formal negotiations have begun.

The Serie A club believe a temporary move could benefit everyone involved, but Tottenham's position presents a significant obstacle.

Tottenham determined to keep Swedish midfielder

Bergvall has played just 324 minutes across six appearances this season, including 180 minutes in the EFL Cup.

His opportunities have become more limited following Tottenham's summer recruitment of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

With Spurs already eliminated from the EFL Cup and without European football, competition for midfield places is particularly intense.

Nevertheless, Tottenham remain committed to Bergvall's development.

The club extended his contract until 2031 last month, reportedly rewarding him with a substantial salary increase.

That agreement strengthens Tottenham's position and suggests they continue to regard the midfielder as an important part of their long-term plans.

Juventus are expected to monitor his situation, but any January move would require Spurs to reconsider their current stance.
