AIK Fotboll winger Taha Ayari has admitted he would welcome the opportunity to join his brother Yasin Ayari at Brighton & Hove Albion after the Seagulls midfielder publicly suggested the club should sign him.

The 21-year-old, who remains at Swedish side AIK, revealed he was amused by his brother's comments but acknowledged that playing together would be a special experience for their family.

There is currently no indication that Brighton have opened negotiations for the winger.

Taha Ayari responds to brother's Brighton transfer suggestion

During September's international break, Yasin was asked which player from Sweden's Allsvenskan he would like Brighton to sign.

The midfielder gave a straightforward answer: "My brother. When they feel like it."

Speaking to Swedish newspaper Expressen, Taha admitted he had not discussed the suggestion with Yasin.

"I haven't spoken to him [Yasin] about it. I read it just like anyone else would. It was funny. I had a laugh. It would have been fun. But I just had a laugh about it," he said.

However, the AIK attacker made clear that the possibility of playing alongside his older brother appeals to him.

"But we both know it's something that would have been great for both of us and the family. I think we make up for each other's weaknesses a bit there as well."

Could Brighton reunite the Ayari brothers?

Yasin joined Brighton from AIK in January 2023 and developed through loan spells at Coventry City and Blackburn Rovers.

He has since established himself under Fabian Hürzeler, becoming a regular for both Brighton and Sweden.

Taha, meanwhile, has registered two goals and two assists in 13 appearances for AIK this year.

The winger recently returned from a two-month injury absence, featuring against Brommapojkarna on 10 October.

Although Taha has represented Sweden at Under-21 level, he has yet to make his senior international debut.

Any potential Brighton move remains speculative, particularly with Yasin's own long-term future unresolved.

The midfielder's current contract expires in 2027, although Brighton hold an option to extend it by another year.
