Tottenham revive Savinho pursuit as Manchester City winger seeks more game time

Tottenham Hotspur have revived their interest in Manchester City winger Savinho, with discussions continuing over a potential deal worth around £60 million.

The Brazilian was a major target for Spurs last summer, but negotiations failed to reach a conclusion after Manchester City maintained a valuation closer to £70 million. Nearly a year later, the situation has changed significantly, and a transfer now appears more realistic.

Savinho is understood to be seeking greater first-team opportunities after a frustrating season at the Etihad Stadium, while Tottenham remain interested in adding another dynamic wide attacker to their squad.

Regular playing time has emerged as the winger's primary concern heading into the new campaign.

The 22-year-old found opportunities limited throughout the season and is now assessing whether his future is best served away from Manchester City.

Despite signing a contract extension until 2031 in October, Savinho's position within the squad remains uncertain.

The expected appointment of Enzo Maresca as Manchester City's new manager has added another layer of complexity. It remains unclear whether the incoming coach views the Brazilian as a key part of his plans or whether a move could benefit all parties.

Spurs were heavily linked with Savinho before the start of last season.

The arrival of Semenyo increased competition in attacking areas and further complicated Savinho's pathway into the starting eleven.

Now Tottenham are back at the negotiating table, with reports suggesting a package worth around £60 million, including bonuses and add-ons, may be required.

Savinho struggled to establish himself consistently during the second half of the campaign.

The Brazilian started only 14 matches and registered six goal contributions across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Semenyo, Rayan Cherki and Jérémy Doku all enjoyed strong runs of form, making it increasingly difficult for Savinho to secure regular starts.

His reduced role was reflected at international level as well.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti omitted the winger from the country's 26-man World Cup squad, a decision that may have reinforced the importance of playing regularly next season.

Much will depend on conversations between Savinho and Manchester City's incoming coaching staff over the coming weeks.

If Maresca sees the Brazilian as a key part of his project, City may resist selling despite Tottenham's interest. However, if assurances over playing time cannot be provided, negotiations could accelerate quickly.
