Fulham still want to keep Samuel Chukwueze beyond this season, but the deal is no longer as straightforward as it seemed just weeks ago.
The Nigerian winger joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan last September with an option to buy, and for much of the season there was a growing expectation that the London club would trigger it. That expectation now appears to have shifted.
Reports in Italy suggest Fulham are actively trying to renegotiate the terms, with the agreed €24 million clause now considered too high. That changes the conversation.
Fulham still want Chukwueze, but at the right price
The key detail here is that Fulham have not walked away. Their position has changed on value, not on the player.
Chukwueze has shown flashes of why Milan signed him from Villarreal CF in 2023, even if consistency has been difficult to maintain. Under Marco Silva, his role has often shifted between starter and impact substitute, which partly explains the mixed output.
That context matters when judging the fee.
Fulham appear to like the player enough to pursue a permanent move, but not enough to pay premium terms without negotiation.
That is a very different stance from the confidence reported earlier this spring.
Chukwueze’s numbers tell a mixed story
His season has had productive moments, particularly considering his minutes.
| Premier League stats (2025/26) | Samuel Chukwueze |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 20 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Assists | 4 |
| Expected Goals | 2.06 |
| Expected Assists | 3.27 |

Those figures suggest solid efficiency, especially for a player averaging under 50 minutes per appearance.
Having followed Fulham’s attacking patterns this season, Silva has often rotated wide players depending on opposition and game-state, which has affected rhythm for several individuals, including Chukwueze.
That makes his overall contribution look stronger in context than the raw totals might suggest.
Still, €24 million is a significant commitment for a player who has not fully nailed down a starting place.
