Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted that his efforts to turn the club’s season around have fallen flat following another heavy defeat — this time a 3-0 home loss to Newcastle United.

The Foxes were left stunned at the King Power Stadium on Monday night as Newcastle netted three first-half goals, including an early opener from Jacob Murphy just two minutes into the match. The reaction from Van Nistelrooy on the touchline said it all, as the Dutchman was visibly furious, mouthing an X-rated expletive toward his players after the early collapse.

The result marked an unwanted piece of Premier League history: Leicester have now lost eight consecutive home games without scoring a single goal — the worst such run in the competition’s history.

Now sitting a staggering 15 points adrift of safety with just a handful of games left, relegation seems inevitable. The club is poised to join Southampton in dropping to the Championship, with their fate potentially sealed even before the final matchday.

Van Nistelrooy, who was appointed in November after a brief stint as interim boss at Manchester United and one full season in charge at PSV Eindhoven, has only seen diminishing returns since an initially positive start. Despite trying multiple tactical setups and rotating personnel, he admits the changes haven't translated into points.

"What I want to say is that it's very disappointing," Van Nistelrooy admitted post-match. "I came here to push the club forward, but so far, that hasn't happened. I’ve experimented with different formations, players, and ideas — nothing has worked."

When pressed about his future with the club, the 48-year-old insisted his focus remains on the team: "Right now, the most important thing is the club and these players — that's my only concern."

With Leicester's form deteriorating and pressure mounting, questions are already swirling about whether Van Nistelrooy will stay in charge beyond this season.

Should Leicester sack Ruud van Nistelrooy?
