Barcelona have submitted an improved offer for Rodri, but Manchester City are continuing to hold out for a higher fee as negotiations over the Spain international gather pace.

The Catalan club's latest proposal is reportedly worth €60 million plus bonuses, although City are understood to value the Ballon d'Or winner significantly higher.

Despite the gap in valuation, all parties remain optimistic that an agreement can still be reached before the transfer window closes.

Barcelona increase offer for Rodri

According to reports, Barcelona have returned with a second bid after their opening proposal was rejected by Manchester City.

The latest package is valued at €60m excluding bonuses, but City continue to insist on a fee closer to €80m.

A compromise could eventually be reached if Barcelona increase their guaranteed payment to around €70m, with additional performance-related bonuses helping bridge the remaining gap.

Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to continue in the coming days.

Rodri wants Barcelona move

The midfielder is reportedly eager to complete the switch to Camp Nou and has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

Rodri had previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish champions never made a formal approach to Manchester City.

That allowed Barcelona to move quickly, with reports suggesting members of Spain's national team also encouraged the midfielder to choose the Catalan club.

The 30-year-old now appears to be waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement.

Manchester City preparing for life after Rodri

Rodri has been one of Manchester City's most influential players since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2019.

The midfielder has won every major trophy during his time at the Etihad Stadium, including the Ballon d'Or, and remains under contract until the summer of 2027.

Although new manager Enzo Maresca would prefer to keep the Spain international, reports suggest City are prepared to sanction a sale if Barcelona meet their valuation.

The Premier League club are already closing in on Ayyoub Bouaddi, with the highly-rated Lille midfielder viewed as a potential long-term replacement should Rodri complete his move to Spain.
