Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah has insisted he is focused on improving in Germany amid reported transfer interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old England international has attracted attention following his development since leaving Liverpool for Leverkusen in summer 2025.

German newspaper Sport Bild has linked Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid with the defender, while Liverpool are reported to hold a buy-back option that could become relevant in 2027.

However, Quansah has refused to be distracted by speculation about his future.

Quansah focused on Leverkusen despite transfer links

Speaking ahead of Leverkusen's Europa League meeting with OFI Crete, Quansah said his priority was continuing to develop as a player.

"I only have to focus on playing the season, playing as many games as I can and trying to improve. That's all I can do," he said.

"If I'm in the conversation then that's for another day but we've got a massively important game and it's another step to becoming a better player."

The former Liverpool defender added that he was trying to remain level-headed while continuing to improve.

Quansah joined Leverkusen for approximately €35million in July 2025 and is under contract until 2030.

His performances have reportedly attracted interest from several major European clubs, although no new transfer agreement has been confirmed.

Arsenal interest and Liverpool buy-back clause

According to Sport Bild, Arsenal had a reported €65m approach for Quansah rejected during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked with the England international, whose ability to play in different defensive positions has increased his value to Leverkusen.

Liverpool could have a separate route to re-signing their former academy player.

Bild reports that the Reds hold a €70m buy-back option that can be exercised until 15 June 2027.

However, other reporting has suggested the relevant fee for 2027 is closer to €60m, leaving the precise terms unclear.

There is no confirmation that Liverpool intend to activate the option or that any of the interested clubs have opened formal negotiations.

Quansah embracing right-back role

Quansah has increasingly been deployed at right-back this season after previously establishing himself as a centre-back.

The England international believes learning a different defensive role has improved his understanding of the game.

He explained that he once regarded himself exclusively as a central defender but has become more aware of what he can contribute in other positions.

The role has also given him opportunities to influence attacks while continuing to develop his defensive responsibilities.

Quansah said he remains happy as long as he is playing regularly.

He also praised Leverkusen's collective defensive improvement, highlighting stronger leadership and better understanding between teammates.

The Bundesliga side head into Thursday's match against OFI Crete having won five consecutive competitive fixtures.
