Rayan Aït-Nouri could get January exit route as Juventus revive interest

Juventus are reportedly preparing to return for Manchester City defender Rayan Aït-Nouri in January after failing to secure the Algerian during the summer transfer window.

The Italian giants attempted to sign Aït-Nouri on loan late in the window, with a proposed agreement including a loan fee and an option to buy. Manchester City rejected that approach and kept the 25-year-old at the Etihad.

However, his limited involvement under Enzo Maresca has encouraged Juventus to continue monitoring the situation ahead of the winter market.

According to Bianconera News, Juventus have identified Aït-Nouri as a potential reinforcement at left-back and have not abandoned their interest.

The defender was reportedly open to joining Juventus during the summer because of competition for places at City, but the Premier League club were unwilling to sanction the proposed loan structure.

That stance could be tested again in January.

Aït-Nouri has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season. His competitive involvement has instead been limited to 90 minutes in the EFL Cup and 15 minutes in the Champions League.

Those numbers have given Juventus reason to believe another opportunity could emerge if his situation remains unchanged.

A January transfer is far from guaranteed.

City paid €36.8m to sign Aït-Nouri only a year ago, and their decision to reject Juventus’ summer proposal suggests a loan with an option to buy may still be difficult to negotiate.

There is also time for the defender’s position under Maresca to change before the transfer window reopens.

For now, Juventus appear prepared to wait. If Aït-Nouri continues to receive limited minutes during the coming months, his lack of football could strengthen the possibility of renewed negotiations.

The next stage will therefore depend not only on Juventus maintaining their interest, but also on whether Maresca begins giving Aït-Nouri a meaningful role at City.
