Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has shared a brief but determined message following disturbing chants aimed at his mother during Sunday’s Manchester derby. The match at Old Trafford ended in a goalless draw, but off-pitch incidents dominated headlines as a section of Manchester United fans were heard targeting Foden with abusive chants.
After the game, Pep Guardiola addressed the issue, strongly criticizing the behavior. "Lack of class," Guardiola said during his post-match press conference.
"But it's not [Manchester] United, it's the people, you know?"
"We are so exposed, people who are on the screen in world football - managers, owners, and football players especially. Honestly, I don't understand the mind of the people involving the mum of Phil. It's a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed."
Foden, who was substituted in the 57th minute to a chorus of boos from the home crowd, took to Instagram to share a calm yet defiant message: "We keep going."
The 24-year-old playmaker has been a consistent figure for City despite the ups and downs of this season. With 10 goals and six assists across 40 appearances, Foden continues to be a key part of the team as they aim to retain their Premier League crown for a fourth straight year.
