Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has insisted he holds no resentment towards Manchester City despite failing to make a single senior appearance during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking from Spain's World Cup camp, the 26-year-old reflected on his early years in England and described his move to Manchester City as "an investment in my future" rather than a missed opportunity.
Now firmly established as one of Tottenham's most important players under Roberto De Zerbi, Porro believes his difficult start ultimately helped shape the career he enjoys today.
Pedro Porro has no regrets over Manchester City move
Porro joined Manchester City in 2019 but spent his entire spell away from the club on loan before completing a permanent move to Sporting CP in 2022.
The Spanish international never featured for City’s first team, with Kyle Walker and João Cancelo occupying the right-back positions during his time at the club.
Despite that disappointment, Porro says he always understood the situation.

The defender added that he never blamed the Premier League champions for his lack of opportunities.
“I don’t hold any grudges against them because I knew it was an investment. At that time, Cancelo was there, Walker was there – they’ve got some great players too – so it’s difficult to break into the team.” — Pedro Porro, via La Razón
Tottenham career has transformed Porro's fortunes
After impressing during his spell with Sporting, Tottenham initially signed Porro on loan in January 2023 before completing a permanent €40 million transfer later that year.
He has since become one of the first names on the teamsheet in north London and recently committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract until 2031, with the option of a further year.
The new deal allows Porro to focus entirely on Spain's World Cup campaign, where he is expected to play a key role as one of the tournament favourites.
