Nottingham Forest are set to make a bid for Leif Davis, according to Ben Jacobs with the Ipswich Town defender emerging as a key target for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side. The 25-year-old left-back remains one of Ipswich’s most valuable assets despite their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Ipswich have already turned down offers from top-flight sides earlier this summer, underlining their determination to keep Davis unless their valuation is met. However, Forest’s interest is now expected to be tested with a formal proposal in the coming days.

“Forest See Him as a Long-Term Starter”

“Leif Davis is viewed as a long-term starter at left-back — his crossing ability and attacking output from deep are exactly what Forest want,” a recruitment source told local media.

Davis, who joined Ipswich from Leeds United in 2022, has been a consistent creative outlet down the left flank. His attacking instincts and work rate have made him one of the most productive full-backs outside the Premier League, and his contract until 2028 gives Ipswich a strong negotiating position.

Analyst Verdict

Davis’ attacking metrics — particularly his delivery from wide areas — have been among the best in the Championship and even compared favourably to Premier League full-backs during Ipswich’s single season in the top flight. For Forest, his ability to contribute in both defensive and offensive phases makes him an appealing option, especially in a system that uses overlapping full-backs to stretch opponents.

Given his long contract and Ipswich’s reluctance to sell, Forest may need to table a significant offer to get the deal done.

Key Insights

  • Nottingham Forest preparing formal bid for Leif Davis.
  • Contract with Ipswich runs until 2028.
  • Weekly wage around £25,000.
  • Ipswich relegated from Premier League in 2024/25.
  • Previously rejected multiple Premier League bids.

What’s Next

Forest are expected to submit their first official offer this week. Ipswich’s decision will depend on the bid’s size and their ability to find a replacement before the transfer window closes. Davis is also believed to be open to a Premier League return, but will not push for a move out of respect for the club.

Should Nottingham Forest pay big to land Leif Davis now, or look for cheaper left-back alternatives?
