Nottingham Forest reject Roma approach for Dan Ndoye as Como target Kalimuendo

Nottingham Forest have rejected a late approach from Roma for Dan Ndoye, with the Premier League club considering the Switzerland international untouchable heading into the final hours of the transfer window.

There could still be movement at the City Ground, however, with Arnaud Kalimuendo attracting interest from Como after struggling for opportunities under Oliver Glasner.

While Forest have firmly closed the door on Ndoye, the situation surrounding Kalimuendo appears considerably more open.

Ndoye has attracted interest from Serie A clubs for some time, with Inter Milan previously monitoring the winger without making a formal approach.

Roma have now entered the picture.

According to journalist Lorenzo Canicchio, the Italian club requested information about the possibility of signing Ndoye as Gian Piero Gasperini searches for another versatile attacking option.

Gasperini reportedly wants a player capable of contributing both offensively and at wing-back, which has also contributed to Roma's pursuit of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

Forest, though, had little interest in opening negotiations.

The Premier League side rejected Roma's enquiry and currently consider Ndoye untouchable.

Forest's position is understandable given Ndoye's promising start to the campaign.

The winger scored the opening goal in their 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, further underlining his importance to Glasner's team.

That represents an encouraging response after a more difficult previous season.

With the transfer deadline approaching and little time available to secure an adequate replacement, Forest have no intention of losing a player who is already playing an important role.

Roma will therefore need to look elsewhere unless there is a dramatic change in Forest's position.

Kalimuendo's situation is different.

According to Gianluigi Longari, Como made initial contact on Monday afternoon to explore the possibility of signing the French forward.

The 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself under Glasner and has made only one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season.

That limited involvement could leave Forest more receptive to negotiations than they were with Roma over Ndoye.

Como are looking to strengthen Cesc Fabregas' squad as they prepare to compete across multiple competitions, including the Champions League.

The Italian club had also shown serious interest in Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey, but were informed that the Netherlands international was not for sale.

Kalimuendo could therefore provide an alternative attacking option during the final stages of the window.

Forest's stance makes a late Ndoye departure appear unlikely unless Roma return with an offer significant enough to force a rethink.

Kalimuendo is the player to watch more closely. With Como exploring a deal and the forward currently outside Glasner's preferred options, there remains scope for negotiations before the transfer window closes.
