Oliver Glasner expects more Forest signings after £40m Harrison Armstrong bid

Oliver Glasner is confident Nottingham Forest will complete more transfer business before the deadline after his side produced an encouraging 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Forest are continuing to work on several targets, with their late-window activity including a surprise £40million bid for Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong, who is regarded as one of the Toffees' leading young talents.

Glasner believes at least one more player will arrive and suggested Forest could potentially complete two additions as the club continue reshaping his squad.

Asked about further arrivals following the Liverpool draw, Glasner confirmed that work is continuing behind the scenes.

“I am [hopeful of new signings],” Glasner said. “The club are working hard behind closed doors, I’m confident we will have two signings.”

He added that following Liam Delap's arrival from Chelsea, Forest are hoping for “one more, potentially two”.

Forest have already undergone significant change this summer, bringing in Xaver Schlager, Ousmane Diomande, Steven Benda and Delap.

Glasner praised the club's recruitment operation but acknowledged that integrating so many players has effectively created another new beginning.

One player now on Forest's radar is Everton prospect Armstrong.

Forest have reportedly launched a £40m offer for the highly-rated midfielder as they attempt to secure another major addition before the window shuts.

Armstrong is considered one of Everton's top young talents, making Forest's substantial approach particularly significant.

Whether Everton are prepared to entertain his departure remains to be seen, but Forest's bid demonstrates their determination to strengthen Glasner's squad during the closing stages of the window.

Transfer activity followed an encouraging afternoon on the pitch as Forest twice led at Anfield.

Dan Ndoye opened the scoring before Alexander Isak equalised for Liverpool. Morgan Gibbs-White then restored Forest's advantage from the penalty spot, only for Victor Munoz to secure a 2-2 draw with a late strike.

Glasner was proud of his team's attacking performance but disappointed they failed to convert more of their opportunities.

“What I loved most was how we played forward and created the chances, especially in the first half,” he said. “I think we should have led by more than one goal.”

The Austrian also acknowledged that Forest's tactical development remains incomplete after only six or seven weeks working together.

He highlighted a drop in performance after around 60 minutes and admitted defensive mistakes allowed Liverpool to exploit spaces that Forest had successfully protected for much of the game.

Forest's recruitment team will continue working on potential additions as the deadline approaches, with Armstrong now among the notable players being targeted.

On the pitch, Glasner will look to build on the encouraging Liverpool performance when Forest welcome Tottenham to the City Ground on September 5. Further reinforcements could give him additional options before that fixture.
