Nottingham Forest are expected to return with an improved offer for Givairo Read, with Feyenoord tipped to enter negotiations if the next proposal reaches around €25 million.
Forest have already seen an opening bid rejected for the 20-year-old right-back, but their interest remains strong.
According to Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam, another offer is expected soon and could force Feyenoord to the negotiating table despite the club’s tougher new transfer policy.

Reports have differed over the exact value of Forest’s opening offer, with some claims placing the package at around €25 million and others suggesting it was lower.
What appears clear is that Feyenoord rejected the proposal.
Forest are not expected to walk away, however. Krabbendam believes another bid will arrive soon and says Feyenoord may eventually have to discuss a deal.
“I think Nottingham Forest will come back, and soon too, and that Feyenoord will eventually have to sit down at the negotiating table,” he said.
Read joined Feyenoord from FC Volendam on a free transfer in 2023 and is under contract until 2029.
Feyenoord adopt tougher transfer strategy
Forest’s pursuit has been complicated by changes behind the scenes in Rotterdam.
Dennis te Kloese left his role as technical director last month, with Robert Eenhoorn becoming CEO and Dévy Rigaux taking over as technical director.
According to Krabbendam, the new leadership wants to maximise transfer income rather than accept early offers to quickly fund new signings.
“The new policy is that players won’t just leave Feyenoord,” he explained.
That approach strengthens Feyenoord’s negotiating position, but it does not completely close the door to Read’s departure.
Krabbendam believes an offer of around €25 million would have to be seriously considered if the defender also wants the move.
Large Feyenoord squad could help Forest
Feyenoord’s squad size may also become an important factor.
The Dutch club currently have 36 contracted players, with their World Cup participants still due to return to pre-season.
That could create pressure to move players out before further recruitment takes place.
Read remains one of Feyenoord’s most valuable young assets, and a major offer would represent almost pure profit after his free transfer from Volendam.
Forest must now decide how far they are willing to push.
