Michael Kayode has made his position clear regarding speculation linking him with Juventus, insisting his focus remains firmly on Brentford despite admitting interest from major clubs is “always nice”.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign since making his move from Fiorentina permanent, establishing himself as one of Brentford’s most reliable performers and attracting increasing attention from Italy.

According to reports from Italy, Juventus have been among the clubs closely monitoring the defender’s progress following his rapid development in west London.

However, speaking to Tuttosport, Kayode played down any suggestion that a return to Serie A is currently on his mind. “I just want to do well, improve here at Brentford, and grow further at this club.”

Michael Kayode becoming one of Brentford’s key figures

Kayode initially arrived at Brentford on loan from Fiorentina before the club moved quickly to make the transfer permanent for a reported €17.5 million.

That decision now looks increasingly like another strong piece of recruitment from Brentford.
The defender has become virtually undroppable this season, featuring in 95 per cent of available Premier League minutes and starting almost every league fixture.

Having followed Brentford’s progress this season, Kayode’s consistency has arguably been as impressive as his athletic qualities. Young defenders often experience fluctuations in form during their first full Premier League campaigns, but the Italian has shown unusual reliability.

His influence has extended beyond traditional defensive contributions too.

Brentford star has become Premier League specialist

One of the more unusual aspects of Kayode’s rise has been his emergence as the Premier League’s long-throw specialist.

The Italian currently holds the league record for longest throw distance at 65.4 metres, turning restarts into another attacking weapon for Brentford.

That versatility appears to have strengthened interest from clubs back in Italy, particularly Juventus, who continue monitoring younger players with room for further development.

Kayode admitted such attention naturally carries significance. “Obviously, Juve’s attention, like that of any top club, is always nice, but I’m very focused on the end of the season.”

Why Brentford may feel encouraged

Brentford will likely view Kayode’s comments positively.

From the final weeks of the season, the club remain in contention for a potential European place, and retaining key players could become critical if Thomas Frank’s side are to continue progressing.

However, it remains too early to dismiss future transfer interest entirely.

Young players often see circumstances change quickly, particularly after breakthrough seasons in the Premier League. But Kayode’s comments suggest there is currently no urgency from his side to seek a move elsewhere.

For now, his focus appears exactly where Brentford supporters would want it.

Key Points

  • Michael Kayode says he is not thinking about returning to Italy
  • Juventus have reportedly shown interest in the defender
  • Kayode has become a key player at Brentford
  • The Italian has featured in 95% of available Premier League minutes
  • Brentford remain his clear priority

What’s next

Brentford will finish the season hoping to secure a European place, with Kayode expected to remain a key figure in the closing fixtures.

Interest from Italy could continue growing over the summer if his performances maintain the same level, but current indications suggest the defender is prioritising development rather than an immediate move.

Should Brentford already consider Michael Kayode untouchable this summer?
