Manchester United launch €50m bid for Eduardo Camavinga

Manchester United have reportedly submitted a €50million offer for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen his midfield before the transfer deadline.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, United presented their proposal to Real Madrid in recent hours and are hoping the Spanish giants can be persuaded into a late sale.

Real manager José Mourinho had considered his club’s transfer business finished, but a substantial offer could reportedly change that position.

United still want another central midfielder despite already strengthening the position this summer.

Camavinga has now emerged as a major late-window target, with the Red Devils prepared to spend €50m on the France international.

It remains unclear whether that figure will be enough to convince Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has fallen down the midfield hierarchy under Mourinho, with Aurélien Tchouaméni, Federico Valverde and Bernardo Silva currently preferred.

That situation could potentially make Real receptive to negotiations despite Camavinga remaining a high-profile member of their squad.

Manchester United aren't the first Premier League club to explore a deal.

Chelsea recently made their own attempt to sign Camavinga, but no transfer materialised.

United have now entered the picture at a crucial stage of the window and reportedly have approximately €80m remaining in their transfer budget.

That money could be divided between two major targets.

Alongside Camavinga, United are continuing their pursuit of Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, another position Carrick wants strengthened before the window closes.

Signing both players could prove difficult depending on how Real Madrid and Barcelona respond.

United's reported €50m Camavinga bid would already consume the majority of their remaining budget, leaving considerably less available for Balde.

Barcelona's defender has been linked with a move for around €30-40m, although other reports have suggested the Catalan club could demand considerably more.

United may therefore need to negotiate one of the deals down or restructure their spending if they intend to complete both transfers.

Real Madrid’s response to the €50m proposal will determine whether negotiations can progress.

United have limited time and are attempting to strengthen two positions before the deadline. If Madrid open the door to Camavinga’s departure, the Red Devils will then have to establish whether they can finance his signing while still completing a deal for Balde.
