Torino remain confident they will complete the signing of Lucas Perri from Leeds United despite the transfer being delayed by a chain reaction in the goalkeeper market.

The Serie A club have identified the Brazilian as their priority target between the posts and, despite the lack of an official announcement, believe the deal is only being held up by transfers elsewhere in Europe.

According to Foot Mercato, Torino have already reached an agreement in principle with all parties and remain fully confident the move will be completed.

Agreement already in place

The report claims the framework of the transfer has already been agreed, with Perri expected to join Torino on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

While some administrative details still need to be finalised, Torino's hierarchy reportedly have no concerns over the outcome of the negotiations.

Internally, the Italian club view the transfer as effectively agreed and are simply waiting for other deals to fall into place.

Goalkeeper domino effect

The delay has not been caused by any disagreement between Leeds and Torino.

Instead, the move has become dependent on a series of goalkeeper transfers involving several clubs.

According to the report, Torino are waiting for Manchester City to complete the signing of Gerónimo Rulli.

Once that deal is finalised, City are expected to approve James Trafford's move to Leeds United, allowing Daniel Farke's side to release Perri to Torino.

The Italian club therefore believe the timing of the deal depends entirely on developments in England rather than any issues with their own negotiations.

Torino staying patient

Despite suggestions earlier this week that delays had created uncertainty, Torino remain relaxed about the situation.

The club reportedly consider Perri their leading goalkeeping target and expect the remaining formalities to be completed once the wider transfer chain progresses.

Unless there is an unexpected twist elsewhere in the market, there is confidence the Brazilian will arrive before the transfer window closes.

Key points

  • Torino remain confident of signing Lucas Perri from Leeds United.
  • An agreement in principle is reportedly already in place.
  • The goalkeeper is expected to join on loan with an option to buy.
  • The transfer is waiting on Manchester City's move for Gerónimo Rulli.
  • James Trafford's switch to Leeds United is expected to unlock Perri's departure.

What comes next?

Attention now turns to Manchester City's pursuit of Gerónimo Rulli, which is expected to trigger the next stage of the transfer chain.

Once James Trafford completes his anticipated move to Leeds United, Lucas Perri should receive the green light to travel to Italy and complete his move to Torino.
