Liverpool face several injury concerns ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting with Brighton, with Victor Munoz a doubt and Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong recovering from muscle problems.

The Reds came from two goals down to beat Villarreal 4-3 in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Rio Ngumoha impressing in Munoz's absence.

Andoni Iraola is also without long-term absentees Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni, although Ryan Gravenberch is available again after serving a domestic suspension.

Victor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai injury latest

Victor Munoz — Potential return: Brighton, 25 October (unconfirmed)

Munoz missed Liverpool's Champions League victory over Villarreal, with reports attributing his absence to a knee problem.

The Spanish winger's availability for Sunday's Brighton fixture remains uncertain.

There has been no confirmed recovery timetable from Liverpool, although secondary reports suggest he could be available for the match.

Dominik Szoboszlai — Potential return: Not confirmed

Szoboszlai missed the Villarreal victory after being forced off during Liverpool's 2-1 Premier League win at Brentford.

The Hungary international had only recently returned from a muscle problem when he experienced discomfort in the same area.

Iraola confirmed that the injury had not worsened but said Liverpool needed to be more patient with the midfielder's recovery.

The manager also indicated that Szoboszlai was not facing a substantially longer absence.

Liverpool have not announced a specific return date.

Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley recovery updates

Jeremie Frimpong — Potential return: After the November international break

Frimpong suffered a fresh muscle injury shortly after coming on as a substitute against Brentford.

The Dutch defender was withdrawn within minutes, leaving Liverpool with another concern at right-back.

Iraola subsequently explained that Frimpong was unlikely to recover before the November international break, although the club would continue assessing his progress.

Conor Bradley — Potential return: Not confirmed

Bradley has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury against Arsenal in January.

The Northern Ireland international underwent surgery and has spent several months recovering.

Iraola recently reported encouraging progress, explaining that Bradley was approaching the stage where he could participate in selected activities with the group.

However, he is not yet ready for full team training, and no competitive return date has been announced.

Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined

Hugo Ekitike — Potential return: Not confirmed

Ekitike continues his rehabilitation from an Achilles tendon rupture suffered in April.

The France international has been included in Liverpool's Champions League squad, with Iraola previously indicating there was a realistic possibility he could contribute in January.

More recently, the manager said Ekitike was progressing according to schedule but remained slightly behind Bradley in his recovery.

He has yet to return to full team training.

Giovanni Leoni — Potential return: Not confirmed

Leoni has not played since suffering a serious knee injury in September 2025.

The Italian defender's rehabilitation has taken longer than initially planned because the damage involved more than his anterior cruciate ligament.

Iraola explained that Leoni had originally been expected to resume team training during the October international break.

That target has shifted to the November break, although the manager stressed that the delay was not the result of a new setback.

Returning to training will be an important step, but it will not necessarily mean Leoni is immediately available for selection.

Key Points

  • Victor Munoz is a doubt for Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Brighton because of a reported knee problem.
  • Dominik Szoboszlai is recovering from an existing muscle injury that Iraola says has not worsened.
  • Jeremie Frimpong is unlikely to return before the November international break.
  • Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain in rehabilitation without confirmed competitive return dates.
  • Ryan Gravenberch is available again after serving his Premier League suspension.

What's Next?

Liverpool host Brighton at Anfield on Sunday, 25 October, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm BST.

Iraola's next team-news update should clarify Munoz's availability and whether Szoboszlai has made sufficient progress to return.

Frimpong and Liverpool's longer-term absentees remain on separate recovery programmes, while Gravenberch is available for selection.
