Leeds United's €40million signing of Tarik Muharemovic has been praised by Sassuolo sporting director Francesco Palmieri, who believes the defender has the potential to develop into an even better player.
The 23-year-old Bosnia international has already established himself in Daniel Farke's squad, making six Premier League appearances since arriving from Italy during the summer.
Leeds United praised for €40m Tarik Muharemovic deal
Muharemovic joined Sassuolo permanently from Juventus in 2025 following a successful loan spell, before impressing throughout the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.
His performances attracted interest from several European clubs, but Leeds ultimately secured his signature in a €40million deal.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Palmieri revealed that Sassuolo received numerous enquiries about the defender.
"This summer, I found myself with a lot of inquiries for a very strong player, who I'm convinced can grow even further," he said.
The sporting director also explained that most serious interest came from clubs outside Italy.
Muharemovic's move has already proved encouraging for Leeds, with the centre-back adapting quickly to the physical demands of English football.
Juventus benefited from Leeds United transfer
The deal also provided a significant financial boost for Juventus, who had negotiated a 50% sell-on clause when Muharemovic moved to Sassuolo.
That agreement entitled the Turin club to a substantial share of the transfer fee received from Leeds.
Palmieri confirmed that Juventus benefited from the transaction, with the additional funds helping the Italian giants complete their signing of Jhon Lucumi.
The Sassuolo director described the transfer as an important deal for everyone involved.
For Leeds, Muharemovic's early performances suggest their investment could prove worthwhile.
His composure in possession, defensive awareness and ability to compete physically have helped him settle into Farke's back line.
At just 23, the defender also has considerable room for development, potentially making him a valuable long-term asset at Elland Road.
