Leeds United striker Lukas Nmecha has emerged as a January transfer target for Bundesliga side FC Köln, with the German club searching for attacking reinforcements following injury setbacks.
The 27-year-old has struggled for regular Premier League minutes under Daniel Farke, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin firmly established as Leeds' first-choice striker.
According to German newspaper Bild, Nmecha is attracting interest from several Bundesliga clubs, although Leeds' lack of attacking depth could complicate any winter departure.
FC Köln identify Nmecha as January striker target
Köln are exploring the transfer market after injuries to Thijs Dallinga and Ragnar Ache weakened their attacking options.
Dallinga's cruciate ligament injury has created a particular need for another centre-forward.
Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler confirmed the club are assessing potential signings.
"We are exploring the market. That's our job," he said.
Bild identifies Nmecha as a particularly attractive candidate, given his Bundesliga experience and uncertain future at Elland Road.
The former Manchester City academy graduate joined Leeds on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in 2025.
He scored seven goals and registered three assists across 33 appearances last season but has played just 240 minutes in eight matches this term.
Only 91 of those minutes have come in the Premier League.
Why Leeds may resist Nmecha's departure
Nmecha's contract expires at the end of the season, potentially making a January move attractive if Köln can offer regular first-team football.
However, Leeds have limited options behind Calvert-Lewin, who has scored five goals this season.
Mateo Joseph remains sidelined with a serious injury, while Joël Piroe departed for West Ham United during the summer.
Leeds explored a move for RB Leipzig striker Conrad Harder but ultimately finished the transfer window without replacing Piroe.
That leaves Nmecha as an important alternative despite his limited playing time.
Financial considerations could also complicate Köln's pursuit.
Nmecha is valued at approximately €10 million by Transfermarkt, although there is no confirmed indication of what Leeds would demand.
Unless Farke secures another striker, allowing Nmecha to leave midway through the season would reduce the club's attacking cover.

- FC Köln are considering the Leeds striker following injuries to two forwards.
- Nmecha has played just 91 Premier League minutes this season.
- His Leeds contract expires in summer 2027.
- Leeds' limited striker depth could make a January departure difficult.
What's Next?
Köln could intensify their interest as January approaches, particularly if their injury problems continue.
Leeds must decide whether to retain Nmecha for the remainder of his contract or consider a transfer that could require them to recruit another striker.
