Manchester United's difficult start to the Premier League season continued as Michael Carrick's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United a first-half lead, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised shortly after the break to earn Leeds a point.
The result extended Manchester United's winless run to six matches and confirmed their worst start to a league campaign since 1986-87, leaving them just two points above the relegation zone.
Mbeumo gives Manchester United first-half advantage
United arrived at Elland Road under pressure following a disappointing draw against 10-man Tottenham last weekend.
Their preparations had also been overshadowed by controversy surrounding Lisandro Martinez's recent comments following the Atletico Madrid match.
Despite those distractions, Carrick's side produced an improved first-half performance against Leeds.
Mbeumo provided the breakthrough with a composed finish, putting the visitors ahead before the interval.
United appeared better organised than in their previous outing and entered half-time with an opportunity to end their winless sequence.
Calvert-Lewin punishes United after defensive change
Carrick made a defensive substitution at half-time, replacing Martinez with Noussair Mazraoui.
However, the reshuffle was followed almost immediately by Leeds' equaliser.
Mazraoui lost Tarik Muharemovic at a corner, allowing the Leeds defender to flick the ball into Calvert-Lewin's path.
The striker reacted quickly and fired past Senne Lammens to bring the hosts level.
United were unable to restore their advantage, meaning Mbeumo's first-half goal was not enough to secure a much-needed victory.
Although the performance represented an improvement on their previous league outing, the result leaves Carrick facing further questions about his side's ability to turn promising spells into wins.
