Juventus plan major Pierre Kalulu contract extension after rejecting Premier League interest

Pierre Kalulu has established himself as one of Luciano Spalletti’s most trusted players at Juventus, and the Italian giants are now preparing to reward the defender with a major new contract.

The 26-year-old has started all six of Juventus’ matches this season and has not been substituted once, underlining his importance to Spalletti.

Juventus initially signed Kalulu from AC Milan in 2024 before making the move permanent for €14million. Since then, the Frenchman has developed into one of the leaders of their defence.

His current contract runs until June 2029, but Juventus are already considering extending it significantly.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus want to elevate Kalulu's status within the squad and establish him as one of the senior figures around whom their new project is built.

The club increasingly view leadership as an important quality within the squad, and Kalulu has convinced both Spalletti and the Juventus hierarchy that he can provide it.

That could result in a long-term agreement designed to keep the defender in Turin beyond his 30th birthday.

Juventus' commitment to Kalulu was already demonstrated during the summer transfer window.

Despite needing to create room within their squad and finances, the Bianconeri never seriously considered selling the Frenchman.

There was interest from the Premier League and elsewhere, but Juventus regarded Kalulu as too important to Spalletti's plans to sacrifice for financial reasons.

Instead of considering a sale, they are now moving in the opposite direction by exploring an extension.

Kalulu currently earns around €2.5million per season.

His performances since leaving Milan have earned the confidence of Spalletti, the Juventus hierarchy and supporters, and discussions are now expected over an improved contract.

The duration of the agreement appears to be particularly important.

With Kalulu still only 26, a substantial extension could effectively commit the best remaining years of his career to Juventus.

There also appears to be optimism about reaching an agreement, with Kalulu's representatives not expected to make demands outside Juventus' financial parameters.

The Premier League may have shown interest during the summer, but Juventus' message is increasingly clear: Kalulu is viewed as part of their future rather than a player they intend to sell.

Juventus are expected to begin discussions with Kalulu's representatives over an improved and extended contract.

The priority appears to be securing him for significantly longer than his existing 2029 deal, potentially taking the French defender beyond his 30th birthday in Turin.

That would also send a strong message to any Premier League clubs considering another approach. Juventus had opportunities to cash in during the summer and chose not to do so, and a new long-term contract would strengthen their position even further.

With Spalletti treating Kalulu as virtually undroppable and the club viewing him as a future senior figure, everything currently points towards the defender remaining a central part of Juventus' plans for years to come.
