Jordan Henderson insists his England career is not over after rediscovering his form at Chelsea under Xabi Alonso.

The 36-year-old midfielder has impressed since joining the Blues from Brentford in the summer, helping Chelsea secure consecutive Premier League victories.

Henderson made his third start in Sunday's 2-0 win at Everton and believes his performances can put him back in contention for Thomas Tuchel's England squad.

Henderson refuses to give up on England return

Henderson was omitted from England's recent Nations League squad after struggling for regular playing time.

However, the former Liverpool captain remains determined to prove he can compete at international level.

"I will always have the desire for England," Henderson said.

"I still feel like I can play at the highest level but I have to do a job at Chelsea and put in good performances and wait and see."

Henderson, who remains in contact with Tuchel, acknowledged that any international recall depends on maintaining his club form.

"England's always an honour and a big thing for me. If I feel like I'm playing at the highest level of course I would always want to be involved."

Chelsea midfielder determined to silence critics

Henderson's move to Stamford Bridge raised questions because of Chelsea's preference for recruiting younger players.

Some observers suggested his main contribution would be providing leadership and experience rather than making a significant impact on the pitch.

But his partnership with Moises Caicedo has helped Chelsea secure back-to-back wins, including their first Premier League clean sheet since January.

"I think a lot of people spoke about the move when I came but for me I've just got to do my talking on the pitch," Henderson explained.

"I'm still learning, and I'm still improving."

The midfielder also revealed that criticism continues to motivate him.

"There are going to be so many different opinions I just try and use it as fuel, use it as energy, to prove people wrong again."

Against Everton, Pedro Neto scored twice, including a late second goal after Henderson's deflected free-kick, as Chelsea claimed an important away victory.
