Jeremy Monga explains why he chose Manchester City over Arsenal

Jeremy Monga has explained why he chose Manchester City over Arsenal this summer, admitting the Premier League champions were impossible to turn down.

The highly-rated winger completed a £10 million move from Leicester City after attracting interest from several top clubs, with Arsenal coming close to signing him before City revived their pursuit.

Monga revealed Arsenal made a serious attempt to bring him to north London, with negotiations progressing to an advanced stage.

However, once Manchester City returned with a concrete proposal, the teenager felt the decision was straightforward.

"Arsenal's interest was very strong because it was very close to me going there."

"The main decision was probably the pathway and the club itself."

The England youth international said City's recent success and reputation for developing young players convinced him to head to the Etihad.

"They've been so successful that it was a no-brainer when City called."

"I feel like to me personally I see myself at City more. I see myself in blue."

Monga added that hearing of City's renewed interest immediately made up his mind.

"Once I heard City called in again it was really a no-brainer because it is such a successful club."

After making 17 Championship appearances for Leicester last season, Monga believes he is already benefiting from his new environment.

The youngster praised Enzo Maresca and revealed Antoine Semenyo has helped him settle into life at City.

"Antoine Semenyo has been guiding me so far, telling me what's right from wrong."

Monga also credited his parents for helping him stay grounded throughout his rapid rise, insisting his focus is on earning and keeping his place in the first-team picture.

Monga will continue his development under Enzo Maresca as he looks to break into Manchester City's first team. After an impressive breakthrough at Leicester, the teenager will be aiming to build on his early progress and establish himself at the Etihad.
