Napoli step up Gabriel Jesus interest as agent visits Allegri at training camp

Napoli's interest in Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has intensified after the Brazilian's agent, Giovanni Branchini, visited the club's pre-season training camp in Castel di Sangro.

The Serie A champions are continuing to reshape Massimiliano Allegri's attacking options ahead of the new season, with Gabriel Jesus emerging as a leading target if Napoli can create space in their forward line.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Branchini travelled to Napoli's training base, fuelling speculation that talks over Gabriel Jesus could gather pace in the coming days.

The experienced agent represents both the Arsenal forward and Napoli head coach Allegri, who has admired the Brazilian for several years and reportedly considered signing him during his time at AC Milan.

While Branchini's visit has inevitably increased speculation surrounding the deal, he played down suggestions that Gabriel Jesus was the focus of discussions.

"I spoke with Allegri and came today to visit him," Branchini told Videoinformazioni.com.

"He's working well and is happy with everything. He has always had a good opinion of the squad and is satisfied with the work."

When asked directly about Gabriel Jesus potentially joining Napoli, Branchini refused to be drawn into the rumours.

"I haven't spoken to Allegri about him. Gabriel Jesus in blue if Lukaku and Lucca leave? In my job, 'ifs' count very little, unlike for journalists. From my point of view, it's better not to talk about hypotheses."

Napoli's ability to pursue Gabriel Jesus depends largely on outgoing transfers.

Romelu Lukaku continues to attract strong interest from MLS side Atlanta United, while Lorenzo Lucca could leave on loan once again after spending the second half of last season at Nottingham Forest.

Gabriel Jesus, meanwhile, is under contract at Arsenal until June 2027. A permanent transfer is currently viewed as the most realistic option, as a loan move would likely require the Premier League club to first extend his existing contract.

Napoli are expected to continue assessing the feasibility of a move for Gabriel Jesus while working on player departures to create room in the squad. Any progress is likely to depend on the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Lucca, with Arsenal also needing to decide whether they are prepared to sanction a permanent sale before the transfer window closes.
