Fulham are set to complete the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Manuel Ángel after reaching an agreement with the Spanish giants on Deadline Day.

According to Marca, the 22-year-old is already in London to undergo his medical and sign his contract after Fulham agreed to pay €4million for 70% of his rights.

The move will reunite Ángel with Álvaro Arbeloa and continue Fulham's remarkable recruitment drive at Real Madrid following the earlier arrivals of Gonzalo García and César Palacios.

Fulham switch focus after Thiago Pitarch decision

Fulham had been considering both Ángel and Thiago Pitarch during the closing stages of the transfer window.

However, Real Madrid refused to allow Pitarch to leave, forcing Arbeloa's side to change direction.

Negotiations for Ángel subsequently accelerated and the two clubs have now finalised an agreement.

Marca reports Fulham will acquire 70% of the midfielder's rights for €4m, allowing Real Madrid to retain a significant stake in the player's future.

Once the agreement was secured, Ángel was given permission to travel to England.

He is now in London to complete his medical and the remaining formalities before officially becoming a Fulham player.

Arbeloa relationship key to transfer

Arbeloa has played an important role in bringing Ángel to Craven Cottage.

The midfielder developed through Real Madrid's academy and was promoted into the senior setup by Arbeloa earlier this year, eventually making six appearances last season.

His situation changed significantly after José Mourinho replaced Arbeloa at Real Madrid.

Ángel was not considered a core part of Mourinho's plans during pre-season and also had no obvious route back into Real Madrid Castilla.

Marca describes the summer as having become “especially difficult” for the midfielder.

Arbeloa continued monitoring a player he knows well and has now provided him with an opportunity to continue his development in the Premier League.

Fulham continue Real Madrid recruitment strategy

Ángel would become the third player to swap Real Madrid for Fulham since Arbeloa took charge in July.

Gonzalo García and César Palacios have already made the same journey this summer, highlighting the new Fulham manager's willingness to recruit players familiar with his methods.

Ángel provides another technically gifted midfield option and arrives with a strong understanding of Arbeloa's football.

For the player, the transfer also offers an immediate escape from an uncertain situation in Madrid and an opportunity to establish himself at senior level.

Marca believes that difficult period is now effectively over, with Ángel's move to the Premier League on the verge of completion.
