Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a major squad clear-out before the summer transfer window closes, with five players expected to leave Roberto De Zerbi's squad.

Spurs have already welcomed eight new signings during an expensive summer, while that number could rise to nine following an agreement in principle with Everton for Iliman Ndiaye.

After such significant recruitment, Tottenham now need to reduce the size of their squad. Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Kevin Danso, Mikey Moore and Souza are all positioned for departures.

Richarlison – Everton

Richarlison is among three Tottenham players who De Zerbi publicly confirmed had expressed a desire to leave.

Spurs are in advanced talks with Everton over a potential return to Goodison Park for the Brazilian, who made more than 150 appearances for the Toffees before his £60million move to Tottenham in 2022.

The Richarlison negotiations are being treated separately from Tottenham's proposed deal to sign Ndiaye from Everton.

A return to Merseyside would bring Richarlison's four-year Tottenham spell to an end.

Pape Matar Sarr – Juventus

Sarr has also asked to leave after dropping down Tottenham's midfield hierarchy following the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Juventus are expected to provide him with an exit route.

The Italian giants are working on a loan deal containing an obligation to buy, which would also reunite Sarr with former Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in Turin.

Sarr has already attracted interest from several clubs this summer, but Juventus now appear to be his destination.

Kevin Danso – Sunderland

Danso completes the trio of players who informed De Zerbi that they wanted to leave.

The Austrian started six of Tottenham's final seven matches last season as Spurs secured their Premier League survival, but his position has changed following the arrivals of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.

Tottenham and Sunderland are now discussing a permanent transfer, with Danso already agreeing personal terms with the Black Cats.

A move would also offer the defender Europa League football this season.

Mikey Moore – Koln

Tottenham's summer recruitment has also affected Mikey Moore's prospects.

Despite starting two of Spurs' opening three competitive matches, the 19-year-old is expected to join Bundesliga side Koln on loan.

It would be Moore's second successive temporary move after spending the 2025/26 campaign with Rangers.

Regular Bundesliga football could provide another important stage in his development before returning to north London.

Souza – Porto

Souza is another youngster expected to continue his development away from Tottenham.

The Brazilian has struggled for opportunities since arriving in January, making only four senior appearances during the second half of last season.

Multiple reports now indicate that Porto will take Souza on loan for the 2026/27 season.

Unlike some of Tottenham's other anticipated departures, the move is designed as a temporary development step, with Souza expected back next summer.

Key Points

  • Tottenham could sanction five departures before the transfer deadline.
  • Richarlison is in advanced talks over a return to Everton.
  • Pape Matar Sarr is expected to join Juventus on loan with an obligation to buy.
  • Sunderland are discussing a permanent deal for Kevin Danso, who has agreed personal terms.
  • Mikey Moore and Souza are expected to join Koln and Porto respectively on loan.

What’s Next?

Tottenham now face a race to complete several outgoing deals before the deadline, with Richarlison, Sarr and Danso representing the most significant permanent exits.

Moore and Souza are instead expected to leave temporarily, allowing De Zerbi to streamline his squad while ensuring two young players receive regular first-team football elsewhere.
