Liverpool make contact for Fikayo Tomori after defender rejects Coventry City

Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, with the former Chelsea defender emerging as a potential defensive addition for Andoni Iraola's side this summer.

The 28-year-old is believed to be available for transfer after falling out of favour at the San Siro, and Liverpool have now made initial enquiries as they assess the possibility of bringing him back to the Premier League.

Juventus are also monitoring the situation, but the Reds are said to have taken the first concrete steps.

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool have contacted AC Milan to gather information over the financial details of a possible transfer.

The Premier League club are keen to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season, with Tomori viewed as an experienced centre-back capable of adding quality and depth.

Initial discussions have reportedly focused on the framework of a deal, while Liverpool consider whether to submit a formal offer.
