Everton have reportedly submitted an official €41million offer for Galatasaray winger Barış Alper Yılmaz as David Moyes looks to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer deadline.
The Toffees have been pursuing the Turkey international throughout August and have now increased their proposal after an earlier approach was rejected.
However, Everton are still short of Galatasaray’s valuation, with the Turkish champions believed to want around €50m for the 26-year-old.
Everton increase offer to €41m
According to Turkish journalist Yakup Çınar, Everton’s latest proposal is worth €41m.
It represents a significant increase on the €35m verbal offer reportedly made earlier this month.
Galatasaray rejected that approach and made it clear they valued Yılmaz at approximately €50m.
Everton have now returned with a formal bid, although it remains unclear whether the reported €41m figure includes potential bonuses.
Either way, Galatasaray have reportedly rejected the new proposal.
The clubs are expected to hold further discussions in the coming days, potentially giving Everton an opportunity to close the €9m gap.
Yılmaz coming off impressive season
Everton’s interest follows another productive campaign from Yılmaz in Turkey.
The winger registered 12 goals and 16 assists across 49 appearances last season, giving him 28 direct goal contributions.
His preferred position is on the left wing, although his versatility allows him to operate across several attacking roles.
That flexibility could appeal to Moyes as Everton look to add greater depth and competition in wide areas.
Summer arrival Tyrique George is currently the only recognised left winger in Everton’s first-team squad.
Premier League move could appeal
Previous reports from Turkey have claimed Yılmaz dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Whether he would specifically accept a move to Everton has not yet been made clear, however.
His Galatasaray contract runs until 2028, meaning the Turkish champions are under little immediate pressure to sell and can continue demanding a premium fee.
That leaves Everton with a decision over whether to push closer to the €50m valuation or move on to alternative targets.
The latest €41m claim has also not yet been supported by other Turkish outlets, meaning some caution remains necessary.
Key points
- Everton have reportedly submitted an official €41m offer for Barış Alper Yılmaz.
- Galatasaray are demanding approximately €50m and are said to have rejected the latest proposal.
- Everton previously saw a €35m verbal offer rejected earlier this month.
- Yılmaz produced 12 goals and 16 assists in 49 appearances last season.
- The two clubs are expected to hold further talks in the coming days as Everton attempt to find an agreement.
What’s Next?
The next round of discussions between Everton and Galatasaray should determine whether there is genuine room for compromise.
Everton have already increased their offer considerably, but another €9m currently separates their reported bid from Galatasaray’s asking price.
Yılmaz’s apparent desire to eventually play in the Premier League could help if negotiations progress, although there is currently no confirmation that he is pushing specifically for the Everton move.
If Galatasaray refuse to lower their valuation and Everton decide €50m is too expensive, Moyes may have to turn elsewhere for another winger before the transfer window closes.
