Dominik Szoboszlai signs new Liverpool contract until 2031

Liverpool have secured the future of one of their most influential players after Dominik Szoboszlai signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at Anfield until the summer of 2031.

The Hungary captain has been rewarded following another outstanding campaign, with the new agreement significantly improving both the length and value of his contract. Szoboszlai arrived from RB Leipzig in a £60 million deal three years ago and has developed into one of Liverpool's most consistent performers.

Since arriving on Merseyside, Szoboszlai has made 147 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 24 assists across all competitions.

He established himself as a regular under Jürgen Klopp before playing a crucial role in Liverpool's Premier League title-winning campaign under Arne Slot.

Last season, the Hungarian showcased his versatility by filling several roles, including at right-back when required, and his performances earned him Liverpool's Player of the Season award.

With Andy Robertson having departed the club, Szoboszlai has also emerged as one of the leading candidates to become Liverpool's new vice-captain.

Liverpool's focus now turns to the futures of several other midfielders.

Ryan Gravenberch has already committed his long-term future by signing a six-year contract earlier this year, but uncertainty remains over Curtis Jones, whose current deal expires next summer.

Wataru Endo is also entering the final year of his contract, while Alexis Mac Allister has two years remaining and continues to be linked with Real Madrid, although no formal renewal talks have been reported.

Securing Szoboszlai's signature represents a major statement from Liverpool as they look to build stability under Iraola and compete for more major honours in the seasons ahead.
