Tottenham Hotspur have received a welcome boost ahead of the new season after Dejan Kulusevski returned to individual training with a ball as his recovery from a long-term knee injury continues.
The Sweden international featured in training footage released by Spurs on Wednesday, alongside fellow winger Mohammed Kudus, who is also progressing in his rehabilitation after suffering a thigh injury earlier this year.
While neither player is ready to return to first-team action, their presence on the training pitch marks another positive step in their recoveries.
Kulusevski continuing careful comeback
Kulusevski has been sidelined for more than a year after sustaining a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace, just weeks before Tottenham lifted the Europa League trophy.
The 26-year-old underwent surgery before enduring a lengthy rehabilitation process that included a second minor operation in March after persistent discomfort delayed his recovery.
He also missed the World Cup and Tottenham's pre-season tour, with the club opting for a cautious approach to avoid any setbacks.
De Zerbi refuses to rush winger
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi has repeatedly stressed that Kulusevski will only return when fully fit.
Speaking during Tottenham's pre-season tour, the Italian said:
"Kulusevski, fit and right, is one of the best players we have in the squad."
"I wouldn't like to put too much pressure on him to accelerate the process of rehab, but I hope he can be available as early as possible."
The latest images suggest the winger is making encouraging progress, although he is still training away from the main first-team group.
Mohammed Kudus also featured in the training footage as he continues his own recovery after being sidelined since January with a thigh injury.
