Crystal Palace star Daniel Munoz attracts Saudi interest as Chelsea links doubted

Crystal Palace could face a battle to keep Daniel Munoz this summer, with growing interest from both the Premier League and Saudi Arabia in the Colombia international.

Reports from Colombia claim the 30-year-old right-back has attracted serious attention ahead of the new season, although Palace remain under no pressure to sell thanks to his contract running until 2028.

While Chelsea have been linked with Munoz, FootballPlace understands a move to Stamford Bridge is highly unlikely.

According to Semana and journalist Felipe Sierra, Munoz has attracted interest from both a Premier League club and teams in Saudi Arabia.

The defender is said to have multiple options available and is viewed as being at the ideal stage of his career for a major move.

However, no formal offers have yet been submitted to Crystal Palace.

FootballPlace understands the strongest interest currently comes from Saudi Arabia, where clubs are continuing to monitor the experienced full-back.

Spanish-language reports have also suggested Chelsea are among the clubs keeping tabs on Munoz.

However, FootballPlace does not believe the Blues are actively pursuing the Palace defender.

Chelsea have already strengthened at right-back with the signing of Marco Palestra, while club captain Reece James remains a key part of Xabi Alonso's plans.

Given those options, a move for Munoz appears unlikely at this stage of the transfer window.

Crystal Palace remain in complete control of the situation.

Munoz is under contract until 2028, meaning the Eagles have no obligation to negotiate unless an exceptional offer arrives.

The report adds Palace would demand a substantial transfer fee before considering the sale of one of Oliver Glasner's most consistent performers.

Barcelona and AC Milan have also been linked, although neither club is believed to have made a formal approach.
