Inter Milan prepare new Curtis Jones move after Liverpool reject second offer

Inter Milan are expected to revive their pursuit of Curtis Jones after the weekend, despite Liverpool rejecting two offers for the midfielder and showing little sign of softening their stance.

According to reports in Italy, the Serie A champions have made the Liverpool academy graduate their leading midfield target after missing out on Nico Paz, with sporting director Piero Ausilio now focusing his attention on securing a deal for the 25-year-old.

However, Liverpool remain unmoved by Inter's attempts to negotiate.

Inter have already tested Liverpool's resolve twice during the summer transfer window.

An opening proposal worth €20 million was turned down, before a second bid of €25 million also failed to change Liverpool's position.

Reports claim the Reds dismissed the latest offer "without batting an eyelid", making it clear they have no intention of negotiating at Inter's current valuation.

The Premier League champions are believed to value Jones at around £40 million, approximately €35 million, and discussions have also included the possibility of a future sell-on clause.

At present, the gap between the two clubs remains significant.

One factor strengthening Liverpool's negotiating position is Jones' contract situation.

Although his current deal expires in 2027, there is no indication the club feel pressured to cash in this summer.

Liverpool are financially comfortable and have no need to sanction player sales unless their valuation is met.

Jones remains a valuable squad member, and Liverpool appear willing to retain him rather than compromise on their asking price.

However, transfer windows often evolve as deadlines approach, and Inter are expected to remain patient while assessing whether Liverpool's position changes later in the summer.

Inter's focus briefly shifted away from Jones while pursuing alternative midfield options, but the failure to complete a deal for Nico Paz has placed the Liverpool midfielder back at the top of their shortlist.

Club officials are expected to use the weekend to reassess their strategy before deciding whether to submit an improved offer or explore alternative structures capable of persuading Liverpool to negotiate.

For now, though, there has been little encouragement from Anfield.

Inter are expected to resume discussions internally before deciding whether to increase their bid for Jones. Liverpool, meanwhile, are unlikely to alter their position unless an offer arrives much closer to their reported £40 million valuation.

With plenty of time remaining in the transfer window, the Italian club may yet return with an improved proposal, but Liverpool currently appear content to wait.
