Crystal Palace reject second Liverpool bid for Ismaila Sarr

Crystal Palace have reportedly rejected a second Liverpool offer for Ismaila Sarr as the winger pushes to complete a move to Anfield before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Liverpool have already seen a £50million offer rejected for the Senegal international, with Palace previously maintaining that they do not intend to sell him.

However, RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins now reports that Liverpool have returned with another proposal. Palace have rejected that approach too, despite Sarr making his preference clear.

The 28-year-old reportedly wants to join Liverpool “at all costs” and will not train on Monday as he attempts to force a late transfer.

Liverpool's interest in Sarr has intensified during the closing stages of the window.

Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Palace rejected an initial £50m proposal and were determined to retain the winger.

Liverpool have now tested that position again without success.

According to Hawkins, Palace have turned down Liverpool's second offer, leaving Andoni Iraola's side with little time to find a breakthrough.

No figure has been provided for the latest bid, so it remains unclear how significantly Liverpool improved upon their original £50m proposal.

Palace's position nevertheless appears firm despite increasing pressure from the player.

Sarr's stance could make the final stages particularly difficult for Palace.

Hawkins reports that the winger no longer wants to play for the Eagles and is pushing strongly to join Liverpool.

He is also expected to miss Monday's training session while attempting to secure the transfer.

That creates a significant deadline-day decision for Palace. They can maintain their refusal to sell and risk keeping an unsettled player, or reconsider if Liverpool return with another improved offer.

Iraola still wants another winger because Cody Gakpo could leave for Manchester City.

Hawkins reports that Gakpo is expected to remain at Liverpool if the club cannot secure an alternative, meaning Palace's refusal to sell Sarr could ultimately prevent the Dutch international from leaving Anfield.

Liverpool therefore face a complicated final stretch of the window.

They must decide whether to make a third attempt for Sarr, pursue another target or keep Gakpo and end their search for another winger.
