Crystal Palace remain interested in Brest defender Raphael Le Guen and could make another attempt to sign the highly-rated centre-back during the January transfer window.
The Eagles pushed hard for the 20-year-old during the summer, reportedly submitting several offers and reaching close to €20million with one proposal.
Brest rejected every approach, but Palace have not abandoned their pursuit.
Crystal Palace planning fresh Le Guen move
Le Guen only made his senior debut for Brest last season and accumulated 373 minutes of first-team football, but his potential was enough to convince Palace to pursue him aggressively.
Manager Pierre Sage was also personally involved in the attempted transfer, holding talks with Le Guen in an effort to convince him about a move to Selhurst Park.
Brest ultimately refused to sell.
According to Le 10 Sport, Palace “remain very interested” and could return with another proposal when the January window opens.
Fulham could rival Palace
Palace may face Premier League competition this time around.
Fulham are also monitoring Le Guen and could challenge their London rivals if they decide to make an offer in January.
That potential competition could complicate matters for Palace, particularly because Brest are under little pressure to cash in.
Le Guen has three years remaining on his contract, giving the French club a strong negotiating position.

Brest believe Le Guen could eventually become one of their most valuable assets and therefore have no intention of allowing him to leave cheaply.
Their preference is reportedly to continue developing the young defender and increase his market value before considering a sale.
Palace strengthened their centre-back options during the summer by signing Axel Disasi and Honest Ahanor on loan, but their continued pursuit of Le Guen suggests they are already considering their longer-term defensive plans.
