Chelsea’s owners have turned their attention towards another emerging Sevilla talent, with 18-year-old midfielder Nico Guillén reportedly being closely monitored by BlueCo.

The youngster has already been handed first-team opportunities this season and strengthened his reputation with an impressive two-goal performance for Sevilla Atlético at the weekend.

According to Ficherio, BlueCo – the ownership group behind Chelsea and Strasbourg – are conducting an “exhaustive” follow-up on Guillén’s development.

Scouting reports on the teenager have reportedly been extremely positive, although there has been no offer at this stage.

Sevilla are also well protected. Guillén recently signed a new contract with the Spanish club, which included an increase to his release clause.

Nico Guillén Shines With Two Goals

BlueCo’s interest comes just as Guillén is beginning to attract greater attention in Spain.

The midfielder scored twice as Sevilla Atlético recorded a 3-0 victory over Marbella on Sunday.

One came from the penalty spot, while his second was a spectacular individual effort. Guillén anticipated the play to regain possession before firing a left-footed strike into the top corner.

His performances at reserve level follow an encouraging introduction to senior football.

Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza included Guillén in his first-team plans during the opening weeks of the campaign. The 18-year-old started against Rayo Vallecano before later featuring away against Athletic Club at San Mamés.

Following the completion of Sevilla’s summer transfer business, Guillén returned to the B team to ensure he continued receiving regular minutes.

BlueCo Return to Sevilla After Oso Transfer

BlueCo already have a recent working relationship with Sevilla.

Strasbourg signed Joaquín Martínez ‘Oso’ from the Spanish club during the summer for €10million (£8.7m), with Sevilla also retaining a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Oso’s encouraging start in France has reportedly encouraged BlueCo to continue monitoring Sevilla’s academy for potential future recruits.

Guillén has now emerged as another player attracting their attention, although Sevilla sporting director José Ignacio Navarro insists the situation has not progressed beyond interest.

“Nico Guillén has just renewed his contract, his clause has gone up and, as of today, there is no offer on the table,” Navarro said.

For now, Chelsea and the wider BlueCo network appear to be monitoring Guillén rather than preparing an immediate move. However, their previous deal for Oso means Sevilla’s emerging talent pool is clearly an area they are continuing to explore.

Key Points

  • Chelsea owners BlueCo are closely monitoring Sevilla midfielder Nico Guillén.
  • The 18-year-old scored twice for Sevilla Atlético in their 3-0 win over Marbella.
  • Guillén has already made first-team appearances for Sevilla this season.
  • Sevilla recently renewed his contract and increased his release clause.
  • BlueCo previously signed Sevilla youngster Joaquín Martínez ‘Oso’ for Strasbourg during the summer.

What’s Next?

BlueCo are currently at the scouting stage, with Sevilla confirming they have received no formal offer for Guillén.

The teenager’s performances for Sevilla Atlético and further opportunities with the senior side will now be closely watched. His new contract gives Sevilla greater control over his future, meaning Chelsea or Strasbourg would likely need to make a significant proposal if BlueCo decide to turn their interest into a concrete move.
