Chelsea could receive a major triple injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford, with Moises Caicedo, Marco Palestra and Jordan Henderson all pushing to return.
Xabi Alonso’s side were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Hull City last time out, with their defensive vulnerability again exposed. The potential return of Caicedo in particular could provide some much-needed stability in midfield.
Moises Caicedo could return against Brentford
Caicedo has endured a frustrating start to the new season due to a persistent calf problem.
The Ecuador international missed Chelsea’s opening two matches before returning against former club Brighton. However, he lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off and subsequently missed games against Arsenal, Leeds and Hull.
Alonso refused to risk the midfielder against Hull but suggested the upcoming Brentford clash could be a realistic target.
“Let's see for Brentford,” Alonso said. “But unluckily not at the moment to take risks with him.”

Marco Palestra still waiting for Chelsea debut
Palestra impressed throughout pre-season following his summer arrival from Atalanta but is still waiting to make his competitive Chelsea debut.
The Italian suffered a training injury before the start of the campaign and was again unavailable against Hull.
Alonso revealed Palestra has been frustrated by the setback but urged the youngster to remain patient.
“The season is long, there will be a lot of games, and you will play your role,” Alonso told him.
The Brentford fixture could now provide his first opportunity to feature.

Jordan Henderson nearing Chelsea debut
Henderson is also closing in on his first competitive appearance for Chelsea following his surprise summer move from Brentford.
The experienced midfielder broke his wrist while celebrating England’s World Cup quarter-final victory over Mexico and has consequently missed the opening weeks of the season.
Henderson returned to training almost two weeks ago, with Alonso confirming that the 36-year-old has entered the final stages of his rehabilitation.
“He has been training very well,” Alonso said. “I think he is in the last stage of his recovery.”
A return against his former club would provide an intriguing backdrop for his Chelsea debut.
