Chelsea have been given another reason to push for Alex Scott after the Bournemouth midfielder produced an outstanding performance on his first England start.

Scott played 70 minutes alongside Elliot Anderson as Thomas Tuchel’s side demolished Croatia 7-0 in Rijeka, inflicting the heaviest defeat in the hosts’ history.

The 23-year-old looked comfortable immediately, controlling possession and providing energy in midfield after making his senior England debut from the bench against Czech Republic earlier in the week.

His display certainly did not go unnoticed by Chelsea supporters.

Chelsea fans demand Scott signing

Chelsea attempted to sign Scott during the summer and reportedly had a £64million offer rejected by Bournemouth.

After watching his England performance, supporters were quick to urge the club to return.

One fan described Scott as the best midfielder currently available to Chelsea, highlighting his “quality, composure and energy”.

Another suggested a midfield partnership between Scott and Moises Caicedo could be “unbeatable”, while others praised his ability to dictate the tempo and carry the ball through midfield.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso was already keen on Scott during the summer, and his performances since then have only strengthened the midfielder’s reputation.

Chelsea leading race despite major competition

Scott will not be short of options if Bournemouth eventually decide to sell.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been credited with interest, while Real Madrid have now reportedly entered the picture.

The Spanish giants are said to have watched Scott several times this season, with scouts also present for his impressive performance against Croatia.

However, Chelsea have received an important boost.

The Telegraph reports that the Blues are currently leading the race for Scott and intend to make another major push for his signature in 2027.

Chelsea wanted another midfielder during the summer but failed to complete a late deal for Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

Bournemouth facing contract problem

A January transfer appears unlikely, with Bournemouth reportedly unwilling to sell Scott midway through the season.

Next summer could be very different.

Scott is believed to have rejected two new contract offers and, unless that situation changes, he will enter the final year of his Bournemouth deal in 2027.

That could significantly strengthen Chelsea’s negotiating position after their £64m summer offer was rejected.

Key Points

  • Alex Scott impressed on his first England start during the 7-0 victory over Croatia.
  • Chelsea reportedly had a £64m offer rejected by Bournemouth during the summer.
  • Chelsea fans have urged the club to return for the 23-year-old after his England performance.
  • Real Madrid and several Premier League giants are also monitoring Scott.
  • Chelsea are reportedly leading the race, while Scott has rejected two Bournemouth contract offers.

What’s Next?

Bournemouth are expected to resist any January approach, meaning Chelsea may have to wait until summer 2027 to make their next serious move.

The contract situation could then become crucial. If Scott continues to reject an extension, Bournemouth risk entering the summer with one of their most valuable players having only 12 months remaining on his deal.

Chelsea will still face significant competition, particularly if Real Madrid turn their scouting interest into a formal approach.

But after missing out last summer, the Blues appear determined to try again — and Scott’s England breakthrough is only likely to increase their interest.
