Liverpool remain optimistic of signing Bradley Barcola despite Paris Saint-Germain rejecting an opening proposal and demanding more than €150 million for the France international.

According to L'Équipe, the 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Reds and is keen on a move to Anfield. However, Paris Saint-Germain are refusing to lower their valuation, leaving the two clubs with a sizeable gap to bridge before any deal can be completed.

Liverpool increase offer

Liverpool initially made a verbal offer of around €100 million to test PSG's position before increasing their valuation to €120 million during subsequent discussions.

The Ligue 1 champions have rejected both approaches, insisting Barcola's value exceeds €150 million including bonuses.

PSG have reportedly pointed to several recent high-value transfers, including Morgan Rogers' move to Chelsea, Elliot Anderson's transfer to Manchester City and Alexander Isak's switch to Liverpool, as justification for their asking price.

Liverpool, however, believe comparisons with transfers between Premier League clubs are misleading given the inflated domestic market.

Confidence remains despite valuation gap

Despite the difference in valuations, L'Équipe reports there is growing confidence among all parties that an agreement can eventually be reached.

Barcola is understood to favour the move to Liverpool but has no intention of forcing an exit from PSG. Instead, the winger is prepared to wait until later in the transfer window if necessary.

His representative, Moussa Sissoko, is already working to find a compromise, while PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is expected to become directly involved in negotiations.

Shared ownership link could help

One factor that could assist discussions is the involvement of investment firm Arctos, which owns minority stakes in both Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group.

While Arctos will not influence sporting decisions, the shared investment relationship could help facilitate communication between senior executives as negotiations continue.

With Liverpool determined to strengthen their attack and PSG open to selling at the right price, talks are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the transfer window.

Key Points

What's next?

Liverpool are expected to continue negotiations with PSG as they attempt to reduce the gap between the two clubs' valuations. If no compromise is reached immediately, discussions could intensify towards deadline day, with Barcola reportedly prepared to remain patient while the clubs work towards an agreement.
