Bazoumana Touré backed to become key Newcastle player after €47m move

Bazoumana Touré has been backed to make an immediate impact at Newcastle United following his €47million summer move from TSG Hoffenheim.

Former Ivory Coast striker Arouna Koné believes the 20-year-old has already demonstrated the mentality and attacking qualities required to succeed at St James' Park.

Touré has wasted little time making an impression, with his goal against West Bromwich Albion in the EFL Cup providing an early glimpse of what he could offer Matthias Jaissle's new-look Newcastle side.

Moving to the Premier League for a substantial fee at such a young age brings significant pressure, but Koné believes Touré has handled the transition impressively.

“Making such a significant move to a club like Newcastle requires exceptional mental strength and tactical maturity at that age,” Koné told 225 Foot.

“What has impressed me most about Bazoumana since his debut is his complete lack of inhibition,” he said.

“He hasn’t hesitated for a second to take players on with the ball at his feet, utilise his explosive first step, and force even highly experienced defenders onto the back foot.”

Touré's EFL Cup goal has further strengthened that belief, with Koné pointing towards the youngster's composure in dangerous areas.

Koné also believes Newcastle's tactical setup under Jaissle is particularly well suited to the winger's strengths.

“It is a setup tailor-made for Bazoumana,” he said.

Touré's ability to accelerate while maintaining close control gives Newcastle a direct threat capable of disrupting defensive structures and creating opportunities in transition.

Koné believes that combination could quickly make the Ivorian an important part of Jaissle's attack.

“He possesses the rare ability to accelerate with the ball glued to his feet,” he added.

“If he maintains this consistent work rate and unselfishness in the final third, he will quickly become an indispensable part of the attack.”

Touré's development at Newcastle could also have significant implications for the Ivory Coast national team.

Koné believes the Elephants need dynamic wide players capable of changing matches through individual quality, and Touré fits that profile.

“Seeing a 20-year-old make his mark and get Newcastle fans on their feet is excellent news for the Elephants,” he said.

Playing regularly in England should also expose Touré to greater tactical demands at a crucial stage of his development.
