Aston Villa strengthened their push for a second consecutive Champions League qualification with a commanding 3-0 win over Brighton on the south coast. The victory marked a continued resurgence for Villa, who have now won six straight matches across all competitions.
The match was dominated by Villa’s January signings, with Marcus Rashford opening the scoring early in the first half with a calm chip over Brighton’s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. In the second half, new arrivals Marco Asensio and Donyell Malen each netted with well-placed strikes, ensuring the win. Villa were without their top scorer Ollie Watkins from the start, but the team’s depth still proved more than enough to overcome Brighton’s challenge.
This win lifted Unai Emery’s side to seventh in the Premier League, ahead of Brighton and just behind Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Manchester City in the race for fourth place. Villa now have eight league games remaining and are simultaneously chasing success in the Champions League and FA Cup, making this season potentially one of the club's best in recent years.
Aston Villa’s Strong Home Form
Aston Villa have been especially strong at home this season, winning seven out of 15 matches. They have only suffered one loss at Villa Park, making them one of the toughest teams in the league to beat on their home turf. This performance has placed Villa in the top six for points per game, with an impressive 1.87.
In comparison to their rivals, Villa’s home form has been just as effective as Chelsea’s and Manchester City’s. Chelsea have accumulated an average of 2 points per game at Stamford Bridge, winning eight and losing only two matches. Manchester City, meanwhile, have performed well at home, sitting just ahead of Villa in the home standings.

It just shows what an amazing season Liverpool has. If you count them out, not bad at home. But should have won more at home, unfortunately we didn't start of well this season.
