Nottingham Forest have reportedly made their move for Archie Brown, submitting an official €16m offer to Fenerbahçe SK ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Forest have entered the race for the 23-year-old defender and have already put forward a formal bid as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

But while negotiations have begun, the current offer is understood to fall short of Fenerbahçe’s valuation.

Fenerbahçe want €18m to sell Archie Brown

The Turkish side are reportedly holding firm at €18m.

That figure would represent a significant profit on the €9m they paid to sign Brown from KAA Gent at the start of the season.

Brown has adapted quickly in Istanbul, producing an impressive return of four goals and seven assists in 36 appearances — strong numbers for a player operating primarily from defence.

With a contract running until 2028, Fenerbahçe are under no pressure to compromise.

That strengthens their negotiating position.

From Forest’s perspective, the €2m gap is relatively small in modern market terms, but whether they are willing to meet the asking price may depend on wider summer priorities.

Why Forest want another left-back

On paper, left-back does not look like an urgent issue for Forest.

They already have Neco Williams and Luca Netz available in the role, while Ola Aina can also provide cover.

That suggests this move may be less about numbers and more about profile.

Brown offers athleticism, attacking output and positional flexibility — traits that align with the demands of modern full-backs in high-transition systems.

Having followed Forest’s recruitment closely over the last two windows, there has been a clear pattern of targeting players with both resale value and tactical versatility.

Premier League survival may shape the deal

Forest’s transfer strategy remains tied to their league position.

If survival is secured, investment in the squad is expected to accelerate. If not, spending close to €20m on a full-back may become harder to justify.

That is why the timing of the reported offer raises questions.

It seems unlikely any final agreement would be completed before Forest’s top-flight future is confirmed.

The numbers underline why Fenerbahçe are demanding a premium.
Brown’s development this season has significantly increased his market value.

Key insights

  • Nottingham Forest have reportedly offered €16m for Archie Brown
  • Fenerbahçe want €18m to complete a deal
  • Brown has delivered 11 goal contributions this season
  • Forest already have depth at left-back
  • Premier League survival could determine whether the move progresses

What’s next?

The next step will likely depend on Forest’s willingness to improve their bid.

An extra €2m could be enough to unlock negotiations, but only if the club are confident about their summer budget and league status.

For Fenerbahçe, there is little urgency to sell, meaning they can afford to wait for full market value.

Forest have made the first move — now the question is whether they will go again.

Would Archie Brown be the right fit for Forest’s next step?
