Very happy to be here” – Player loving life after Fulham exit captures Andreas Pereira’s strong start to life in Brazil. After leaving Fulham this summer to join Palmeiras, the midfielder made his long-awaited debut and wasted no time in showing why the club moved quickly to secure his signature.

Introduced in the second half of the Brasileirão clash against Internacional, Pereira immediately took control of Palmeiras’ attacking rhythm. His numbers were outstanding: 33 ball actions, nine progressive actions, 28 accurate passes, and two shots — all achieved in less than half an hour on the pitch.

Pereira’s versatility shines through

Palmeiras assistant coach João Martins praised Pereira’s adaptability, noting that his time in the Premier League had prepared him for different roles across midfield.

“He played there as a number 8, as a number 10, as an inside midfielder… that gives us several options to think about depending on the opponent and the game.” — João Martins

That versatility will be a major asset for Abel Ferreira as Palmeiras look to balance domestic and continental commitments in the second half of the season.

The player himself was delighted with his debut, emphasising the importance of both the result and the welcome he has received from Palmeiras supporters.

“It is a very important victory. I was very happy, I am very happy to be here. I want to thank the fans for the support and for the affection.” — Andreas Pereira, SporTV

The Brazilian’s words underline his commitment to embracing the challenge of returning to South America and becoming a central figure in Palmeiras’ push for silverware.

The data shows how Pereira immediately imposed himself, acting as a link between midfield and attack while contributing directly in the final third.

Analyst verdict – by John William

Pereira’s debut could not have gone much better. While 28 minutes is a small sample size, his control, passing accuracy, and attacking intent demonstrated exactly why Palmeiras signed him. His ability to operate in multiple midfield roles also gives Abel Ferreira tactical flexibility — something that could prove vital as the season intensifies.

If Pereira maintains this form, he has every chance of becoming one of the standout players in Brazil’s top flight over the coming months. His Premier League experience with Fulham should only help him adapt to high-pressure situations in the Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores.
