Youri Tielemans believes Marcus Rashford can make a major impact at Manchester United this season after being reunited with his former Aston Villa team-mate at Old Trafford.

Rashford recently returned to first-team training after spending the past 18 months away from United on loan, while Tielemans completed his long-awaited move to Manchester earlier this summer.

Having played alongside the England international during Rashford's loan spell at Aston Villa, Tielemans says he has no doubts about the forward's quality or mentality.

Tielemans praises Rashford's attitude

Rashford's return to Manchester United follows a difficult period that included a fallout with former manager Ruben Amorim and a season-long loan at Barcelona.

Despite the scrutiny surrounding the forward, Tielemans insists Rashford impressed everyone at Aston Villa with his professionalism.

"He was great.

"There had been so much talk about him and bringing pressure and the media around him, but I thought he was just so good."

The Belgian also highlighted Rashford's natural ability and work ethic.

"He was very humble, he was just hard working, and from the first training you could tell his touch, his acceleration was just amazing.

"Hopefully he can bring them here."

Familiar faces ease Old Trafford transition

Tielemans is also enjoying working again with Harry Maguire and former Leicester City captain Jonny Evans, who is now part of Michael Carrick's coaching staff.

The midfielder praised Maguire's development since their early days together at Leicester.

"Defensively, he is rock solid, so I think he has improved a lot over the years as well."

He also admitted it has taken some getting used to seeing Evans on the coaching staff.

"It is a bit weird to see him as staff member, to be honest, but no, it is going great.

"He knows me, he knows what I need and what I can bring to the team, so it helps me as well."

Third attempt finally brings United move

Tielemans also revealed this summer's transfer was not the first time Manchester United had tried to sign him.

The Belgium international confirmed he previously held talks with the club on two separate occasions before finally completing his move.

"It is a great achievement for any player to end up here.

"There has been two times that I spoke with the club, but it did not achieve to anything."

He added: "When a move comes up, then if it needs to happen, it will happen."
