West Ham are set to complete the signing of El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague in a record-breaking €25m deal, according to reports in the Czech Republic.

The Hammers made a substantial second offer to beat Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds to the Senegal defender’s signature. Diouf could arrive in London as early as this weekend to complete his medical.

“Everything is practically agreed. The deal will be a record for the Czech league,” a source told iSport.

Why West Ham Moved Fast for Diouf

After seeing their initial €20m offer turned down, West Ham raised their bid to meet Slavia Prague’s €25m asking price — a fee including bonuses that will set a new Czech league transfer record.

The 20-year-old has impressed with his physical presence and ability to carry the ball out of defence. His rapid rise has drawn comparisons to former Slavia stars Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal, both of whom also made successful moves to the London Stadium.

Premier League Rivals Miss Out

Crystal Palace, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds had all shown interest in the 6’2″ centre-back. But West Ham’s strong relationship with Slavia — and their willingness to meet the valuation — proved decisive.

“The deal was pushed through thanks to excellent ties between the clubs,” Czech source WIW Sport reported.

When Will Diouf Arrive in London?

The plan is for Diouf to fly to London this weekend to undergo a medical. His move could be officially announced early next week once all paperwork is finalised.

Analyst Verdict

Diouf offers pace, strength and composure on the ball — all qualities West Ham lacked in key moments last season. At just 20, he fits Graham Potter’s profile for long-term starters and could form a dynamic pairing with Nayef Aguerd.

Key Insights

  • West Ham sign Diouf from Slavia Prague for a record fee
  • Defender beat interest from four other Premier League clubs
  • Medical expected in London by Sunday
  • Third Slavia player to join the Hammers after Souček and Coufal

What’s Next for West Ham?

Graham Potter is expected to make more signings in defence and midfield, especially if Lucas Paquetá leaves. Watch for West Ham to target another young full-back before the window closes.
