West Ham United are expected to hold discussions in the coming hours over the future of Nuno Espírito Santo, with the Hammers’ Premier League situation deteriorating rapidly.

According to RMC Sport, the 51-year-old is now in a “very precarious” position following another damaging defeat, this time a 2-1 loss away to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Relegation pressure intensifies

Nuno has managed just three wins from 19 matches since replacing Graham Potter in September, and West Ham’s struggles have left them entrenched in the relegation zone.

Tuesday’s defeat proved particularly costly. Forest, now 17th, have opened up a seven-point gap over 18th-placed West Ham — a margin that significantly raises the stakes heading into the second half of the season.

From the opening whistle at the City Ground, it felt like little was going West Ham’s way, and the result has only intensified scrutiny on the dugout.

RMC Sport: talks imminent

RMC Sport report that internal discussions are expected imminently, with Nuno’s position under active review. French journalist Arthur Perrot reinforced the report on social media, doubling down on the claim that the manager’s future will be addressed within hours rather than days.

The outlet describe the situation as one of their own exclusives — an unusual development given RMC Sport do not routinely lead on West Ham-related stories — but they remain adamant about the accuracy of their information.

Context behind the appointment

West Ham turned to Nuno after a turbulent start to the season under Potter, who oversaw five defeats in the club’s first six league matches. Potter was dismissed on 27 September, later taking charge of Sweden, and has since insisted his West Ham exit did not damage his confidence.

However, the change in leadership has not delivered the desired turnaround. Performances have remained inconsistent, and results have steadily worsened.

Decision looming

Having followed West Ham’s recent run closely, the lack of momentum and growing points gap suggest the club’s hierarchy are approaching a decisive moment. While no final call has been confirmed, the language coming from France indicates patience is wearing thin.

Still, it remains too early to know whether West Ham will act immediately or attempt to stabilise under Nuno through a congested fixture run.

Key insights

  • West Ham are in the relegation zone after 19 matches
  • Nuno Espírito Santo has just three wins since September
  • Forest now sit seven points clear after Tuesday’s defeat
  • RMC Sport report talks will take place in the coming hours
  • Manager’s position described as “very precarious”

What’s next?

West Ham’s next league fixtures could prove decisive, but with discussions imminent, the club may opt to act before further damage is done. Any decision is expected quickly, given the urgency of their league position.

Should West Ham stick with Nuno for stability — or move fast to try and save their Premier League status?
