Viktor Gyokeres stance on Arsenal transfer revealed after Manchester United approach
Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is currently favouring a move to Arsenal ahead of Manchester United this summer, according to reports.
Gyokeres has emerged as one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe following two impressive seasons in Portugal with Sporting.
The 26-year-old made an immediate impact following his £20 million move from Coventry City in 2023, and so far for Sporting he has scored 86 goals in 93 appearances.
Arsenal are in the market for a new striker this summer and are already considering alternatives to Alexander Isak, who Newcastle United value at £150 million.
Gyokeres is on Arsenal’s summer shortlist, however, Mikel Arteta’s side will face competition from Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim keen to be reunited with the Sweden international having already managed him at Sporting.
According to The Sun, Gyokeres ‘is believed to be leaning more towards Arsenal’ as they are established Premier League title challengers and can almost guarantee Champions League football next season.
The report adds that Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, is a ‘huge’ fan of the Sporting striker.
It’s also claimed that Sporting have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Gyokeres to allow him to leave in the summer transfer window for significantly less than his £85m release clause.
Sporting are said to be looking to strike a deal between £55m and £70m for their leading forward.

There’re not a lot of strikers that good enough right now. Isak, Gyokeres, Mbappe, Haaland, Kane and that’s probably it right now. Only 1 or 2 that could leave there club. Who ever gets this guy will get goals. He has proven it in the CL as well, Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea needs him.
