Spurs aim to complete seven transfer moves before the September 1 deadline, with new arrivals and key exits on Thomas Frank’s wishlist.
Tottenham Hotspur head into the final weeks of the summer transfer window with plenty still to do. After a mixed pre-season — including a morale-boosting 1–0 win over Arsenal but a 4–0 humbling at Bayern Munich — Thomas Frank’s side are just three days away from facing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final.
That showdown in Udine comes before Spurs’ Premier League opener against Burnley on Saturday, a season Frank hopes will banish memories of last year’s 17th-place finish. But with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined, Son Heung-min gone, and several fringe players awaiting moves, Spurs’ squad still feels incomplete.
Could Johan Lange deliver all seven transfer priorities before the window slams shut?
Frank Wants Creativity at No.10
Injuries to Maddison and Kulusevski have left Spurs short of options in the attacking midfield role. Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr are alternatives, but fans are pushing for a marquee signing such as Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. Mohammed Kudus and Wilson Odobert are also viewed as possible solutions if shifted centrally.
Reinforcements at Centre-Back
With Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven both missing significant minutes last season, Frank has asked for an additional senior centre-back. Spurs are well stocked but see extra depth as vital for a campaign spanning four competitions.
Son Heung-min Replacement Search
Son’s move to LAFC ends a decade-long chapter, and replacing his goals and leadership is a huge task.
“If we think we can find the right one, one who can improve the team, then he will be signed. If we can’t, then not.” — Thomas Frank
Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, and Brennan Johnson are current options, but Spurs remain in the market.
Dane Scarlett Loan Move
Scarlett was left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour to explore a loan. After disappointing spells away from N17, the academy striker needs a goal-laden season to prove his long-term worth.
Luka Vuskovic Development Plan
The young Croatian has impressed during loans in Poland and Belgium. Another temporary move is expected to continue his progression, with offers already on the table.
Bryan Gil Exit Required
Gil’s contract expires next summer, and Spurs want to avoid losing him for free. Recovering from a knee injury sustained at Girona, the winger will need a permanent transfer to secure regular football.
Decision Time for Manor Solomon
Outstanding for Leeds United in the Championship last season, Solomon hasn’t featured this summer due to injury. With competitive fixtures starting this week, time is running out to prove his place in Frank’s plans.
Tottenham Transfer Status (2025)
| Transfer Target/Exit | Status |
|---|---|
| New No.10 (Eze priority) | Ongoing |
| Senior Centre-Back | Ongoing |
| Son Replacement | Ongoing |
| Dane Scarlett Loan | Pending |
| Luka Vuskovic Loan | Expected |
| Bryan Gil Exit | Pending |
| Manor Solomon Decision | Pending |
Analyst Verdict
Frank’s Spurs remain a work in progress. From reviewing pre-season matches, the pressing structure is improving, but there’s a clear lack of creative depth without Maddison. Securing a top-class No.10 and replacing Son’s output could define the club’s season. Without those, even defensive reinforcements may not be enough to push Spurs into the top half.
Key Insights
- Spurs aim to complete seven key moves before September 1.

What happend to Scarlett? I really thought he was the next thing for Spurs - havent followed him to be honest lately, but shouldn't he stay and get his chances with only Solanke as a striker?
